Whey Protein For Bodybuilding

Supplements

Why is Whey Protein so important to Bodybuilding

Whey Protein is a quick acting protein, which mean this protein goes immediately to the damaged muscle to help in the repair. Whey comes from milk and is separated from the casein.

Whey Protein is relatively new to the market but, is getting good reviews. It is a great source of protein without the saturated fat that is associated with the foods that are high protein. Whey protein has a lot of amino acids that help the muscles repair after a workout.

Benefits of Whey Protein

  • Faster muscle recovery
  • Fast absorption into the body’s system
  • Helps the immune system
  • Low in fat
  • Great for adding protein when trying to lose body fat in a diet

If you don’t get enough protein in your diet, whey protein is perfect. To gain large amounts of muscle mass, you need the sufficient amount of protein to enable muscle growth.

3 Best Times To Take Protein

There are three times during the day when whey protein is best consumed.

  1. Right after your workout is a great time to take whey protein because your body is in need of amino acids in a hurry.
  2. When you first wake up, because your body has gone without protein for about 8 hours.
  3. And right before you go to sleep because you body metabolism slows down and you need a healthy source of protein before that long time period without it.

Like anything in the world, too much of anything is not healthy. So, be sure not to take too much whey protein because it could lead to kidney and liver failure. For someone who weights about 200 pounds, you will need 140 to 180 grams of protein, and that is if you are weight lifting. If you are not weight lifting then you will should consume less then 140 grams. As always see your doctor before taking any types of supplement and before starting a new exercise program.

Great information. The exact technical mechanics between protein and muscle can become very complex, however best to keep it simple, muscle is basically stored protein and good muscles are beneficial for numerous reasons. Thanks, Adam
