Top Muscle Building Supplements That Will Get You Into Shape

Supplements

This article will break down each type of protein supplement and explain how and when each one is used to help you decide which supplement is best for you.

Many people just buy supplements because they heard that you can build muscles just by taking them. Well, the truth is that they only help a little in building the muscle, you still need to do the effort in the gym. Some supplements don’t even help your muscles grow at all.

The first thing that you need to understand when using a muscle building supplement is that protein is the main objective when looking at various supplements. So obviously you need to see if the supplement contains some sort of protein. Another form of protein is amino acid which are the building blocks of building muscles. So either protein or amino acids are acceptable. There are many different types of protein which include…

  • Whey
  • Soy
  • Egg
  • Casein

But which one is the best type of supplement to use? That will depend on what type of bodybuilding you plan on doing and when you want to take them.

Whey: Whey protein is great for a protein boost right after a workout. Whey is fast absorbing and reaches the muscles when they need protein the most. Right after a workout, your muscles are drained and in need of protein. Whey is great for this and can really help the muscles grow faster. It takes about 30 minutes for the whey protein to be digested into the blood stream.

Soy: Soy is great for vegetarians. This protein comes from plants. The down fall for this supplement is that it isn’t as fast in terms of absorption as the whey or egg protein supplements.

Egg: Egg protein has a medium absorption rate. It takes about 1 to 3 hours for the egg protein to get into the blood stream completely. So you will get a nice even absorption rate of amino acid into your system for about 1 to 3 hours. It is good before or after a workout.

Casein: This supplement digests very slow. It will take 2 to 7 hours to completely digest. This protein supplement is taken usually before you go to sleep. The reason is that this is the longest time the body goes with out protein.
