When is the Best Time To Workout? Some people say at night, others say in the morning. For me, it depends on what I want to accomplish. For fat loss, I prefer working out in the morning. And when I want to build muscle, I enjoy working out in the evening. This article will explain why I feel morning workouts on an empty stomach is the best time to burn fat.

The best time to workout for fat loss is in the morning on an empty stomach. Your stomach is empty because the body goes through an 8 to 10 hour fast or however long you sleep and uses the blood sugar and glycogen to perform its normal operations.

Such body operations during sleep include…

  • Muscle repair
  • Food digestion
  • Maintaining immune system
  • Circulatory system.

Stored body fat is also used to help with these operations at night.

Upon waking up, three catabolic hormones have been elevated throughout the night to help with the break down of glycogen, fat and yes, even muscle tissue to help with the previously mentioned body operations during your sleep. The three hormones are…

Carbohydrates on the other hand will raise your insulin levels, thus shutting down your bodies ability to burn fat as fuel during your workout.
