BCAA Supplements For Muscle Mass and Fat Loss

BCAA Supplements For Muscle Growth

BCAA Supplements contain the three most important amino acids for muscle growth. These amino acids include…

  • Isoleucine
  • Leucine
  • Valine.

BCAAs make up 35% of your muscle mass and must be present in order for you muscles to grow. The three amino acids found in BCAA Supplements can be converted into two other amino acids…

  1. Glutamine
  2. Alanine.

These two amino acids are released into the body which aid in muscle recovery and used as a source of energy.

BCAA Supplements For Prevention Of Muscle Breakdown

Taking BCAA Supplements before a long intense workout is often a good idea to help prevent muscle breakdown.

Muscle breakdown occurs when the body goes into a catabolic state. This catabolic state happens when extreme stress like a weight lifting workout or a high intensity cardiovascular workout is performed for an extended length of time. During a catabolic state, glycogen is being depleted quickly. The liver must then synthesize protein into sugar to be used as fuel.

BCAA Supplements are taken to prevent your body from entering this state of catabolism. BCAA’s signals the body to stop the breakdown of muscle to be used for quick energy.

BCAA Supplements For Fat Loss

In my opinion, the best use of BCAA Supplements is to help with fat loss. Because BCAAs are so beneficial in the prevention of muscle catabolism, you can really take advantage of fat loss in a fasted state.

I recommend performing early morning cardio on an empty stomach. You have just fasted over night when you were asleep. Your glycogen stores are depleted and your body is in prime condition to burn fat. Taking BCAA Supplements 30 minutes before you do your cardio will help the body target stored fat as the primary source of fuel instead of the muscles.

Dosages And Times For BCAA Supplements

I prefer taking 5 grams of BCAAs before, during, and after any weight training that will take longer than 45 minutes to complete. If my weight training is going to be under 45 minutes, I only take 5 grams post workout with a whey protein shake to help speed up my recovery process.

When I’m supplementing BCAA’s with my cardiovascular workouts, I only take 5 grams before my workout to help with the prevention of muscle catabolism.
