Muscle Building Diet

Nutrition & Food

Your Muscle Building Diet needs to have the right portions of proteins, carbohydrates and fats to get the best results. This article will talk about how much you need to take in per day for the best results.

Portion Control

First lets talk about why portion control is so important when it comes to your diet. If you have too much or too little of…

  • protein
  • carbohydrates or
  • fats

… you can hamper the growth of your muscle. The amount of these three must be monitored with each meal and you must make sure you are getting enough nutrition evenly throughout the day.

Breaking It Down

During your muscle building diet, you need to consume twice the amount of carbohydrates then you do proteins.

The carbohydrates are what gives your body energy and helps transport protein to the muscle.

Protein is what repairs muscle cells and helps make new ones.

Carbohydrates and proteins are a must have when building muscle. The process of muscle growth will not happen without the combination of these two very important nutrients.

Everybody will have different goals and therefor will have a different muscle building diet.

Gaining Muscle Mass

For people who want to bulk up and add muscle size, your protein intake will be 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh. And, your carbohydrate intake will be 2 grams of carbohydrates for every pound you weigh.

For example, an average man weighing 200 pounds will consume 200 grams of protein and 400 grams of carbohydrates. If you are eating 5 times a day, each meal should consist of at least 40 grams of protein and 80 grams of carbohydrates.

Fat Loss While Keeping Muscle Mass

For people who want to lose body fat and still keep the muscle mass, your protein intake will remain the same but you will lower the carbohydrate intake to 1 gram or less to every pound you weigh. This lowering of the carbohydrates will make your body burn more of the stored fat as energy.

Of course everybody has a different metabolism and body composition so, these numbers will vary. Experiment and find out what muscle building diet works best for you.
