Introduction To Intermittent Fasting

Here at Ripped Bodybuilding, we are fans of Intermittent Fasting and even I have used this method to enhance my fat loss goals. However, intermittent fasting is not something I recommend for the beginner to the fat loss. A healthy metabolism is required for this type of fasting to be effective.

What is Intermittent Fasting

It is simply a short time period when you go without certain types of food which begins and stops at irregular intervals on the calendar, no set days.

Night time intermittent fasting are usually around 10 to 14 hours long and will involve no food consumption.

A full intermittent fast can be up to 24 hours and involves certain types of food and plenty of water.

Intermittent Fasting Tip #1

People who are just starting out on a fat loss diet will not do well with intermittent fasting. My recommendation would be to eat the right kind of fat loss foods combined with high intense exercises for a few months before starting any type of fast.

Intermittent Fasting Tip #2

During your 1st time fasting, I would recommend night time fasting. It gives you a lot of the same effects as a full intermittent fast.

Intermittent Fasting Tip #3

Intermittent fasting does not mean the avoidance of all types of food. Here are some foods which I recommend you eat on your fasting days…

  • celery
  • lettuce
  • leafy greens
  • vegetable broths
  • fiber supplements.

Intermittent Fasting Tip #4

The use of BCAA Supplements during an intermittent fast is highly recommended because of its ability to decrease the chance of muscle being lost.

Intermittent Fasting Tip #5

Intermittent fasting works best when spread out over time. For beginners, once a month is a great start. For intermediate, once every 2 weeks is good. For advanced, once a week works out well.

For night time fasting, every night or every other night is fine. Just be sure it doesn’t effect your sleep quality. Also, try to have your intermittent fasting day after a cheat day. This will help balance hormones from your cheat meals.

intermittent fastingIntermittent fasting will be the most beneficial for those who have lived a healthy lifestyle and are trying to lose that last little bit of fat.
