How To Use Creatine, Does It Matter

There are many articles on How To Use Creatine. However, if you do not read the information, you could possibly be wasting your money if you don’t take creatine correctly.

This article will explain how and why taking creatine a certain way at the right time will have the benefits for muscle gains. I will also share how I take creatine.

How To Use Creatine – What Not To Do

With all the mixed information on the Internet, it can be hard to determine how to use creatine. The list below are 4 tips on how NOT to use your creatine. Do not take creatine with

  1. Water
  2. Acidic drinks
  3. A slow digesting carbohydrate
  4. Before you workout.

Taking creatine with water only flushes it out. It goes through your system and will not reach your muscles.

Another bad liquid choice to take with your creatine is acidic drinks like orange juice and grapefruit juice. These drinks will ruin the creatine.

I would recommend taking your creatine after your workout with either grape juice or apple juice. These juices have simple sugars (fast digesting carbohydrates) in them without the acidity. Plus, it will help give you that insulin spike to shuttle the creatine to the muscles.

In addition, the nutrients from the meals you eat throughout the rest of the day are going to be utilized by your muscles. That’s why you’ll want to take your creatine after a workout instead of before. Taking creatine before your workout has very little effect on muscle gains.

How To Use Creatine Tip

Now that you know a little bit more on how to use creatine, I would like to share with you how I take creatine after a workout. Personally, I like to mix it in with my post workout shake which includes…

how to use creatine

  • Between 20 to 40 grams of whey protein isolate
  • Skim milk (for the simple sugars)
  • 5 grams of BCAA’s
  • 5 grams of creatine and
  • half a banana (simple sugar).

This is a blend of fast absorbing proteins and carbohydrates that will help shuttle my creatine straight to the muscles. You can get creative when it comes down to how to use creatine. But just remember to include non acidic simple carbohydrates and take post workout instead of before.
