High Protein Low Carb Diet To Get Ripped

The High Protein Low Carb Diet is for people who have already bulked up and want to get ripped while maintaining their muscle mass. This diet will be based on high protein and high fiber with minimal carbohydrate consumed during each meal.

High Protein Low Carb Diet Is Simple

The concept is simple. With the protein and fiber increased, you will receive more quality nutrients that will fill you up faster and for a longer period of time. Your fiber should mainly come from vegetables. Protein will help maintain your muscle mass and the vegetables have plenty of fiber that will fill you up and fuel your body with many different types of minerals and vitamins.

Vegetables contain few calories but will keep you full, thus helping you consume less calories throughout the day. But, because your high protein low carb diet has less calories, you might have to increase your daily meals.

High Protein Low Carb Diet Timing

The spacing of your meals becomes a concern in the high protein low carb diet. Because of the decrease in your carbohydrates, you must now make up the loss by increasing your meals per day.

Ideally your meals should be spaced out evenly every 3 hours, from the time you wake up or after your morning cardio till about 3 to 5 hours before you go to sleep. This means the amount of protein and vegetables must be increased in each meal while your carbohydrates and fats remain low.

The only time you want to increase your carbohydrates should be around your workouts. Since you should be exercising twice a day, once in the morning for your cardio and once in the evening for your weight lifting, carbohydrate intake is important.

Of course, the type of workout will determine how much carbohydrates you need. For example, a cardiovascular exercise early in the morning needs more carbohydrates after the workout then before. Note, if the object is to burn fat, the less carbohydrates you have before the workout, the more fat you will burn.

High Protein Low Carb Diet Final Thought

For an extreme weight lifting workout, the carbohydrates need to be large before and after the workout. In this high protein low carb diet, the whole object is to use carbohydrates as energy when needed and lessen the consumption when production is not necessary.

Can you provide me with a formula or rough estimate for calculating the number for proper carb cycling for getting ripped?

    Hi Morgan,

Everybody is different and will require different amounts of carbohydrates to get ripped. However, as a general rule, 30 grams of complex carbohydrates with each meal works best for achieving fat loss in most cases.

Yet, when it comes time to workout, this number changes. When performing cardiovascular exercise, it is best to consume 0 grams of carbohydrates before to achieve maximum fat loss. And when it comes to weight lifting, you want to increase your intake of carbohydrate after the workout.

Generally, I wouldn’t go over 50 grams of carbohydrate after a weight lifting workout if your goal is fat loss. And of course you want to consume your post workout meal within 1 hour after the weight training. The sooner the better.

Also, another tip when trying to get ripped is to cut out all carbohydrates in your last meal of the day. This will help you burn more fat when you sleep.

Sorry there is no real formula when it comes to getting ripped since everybody responses differently to different kinds of diets.

If this type of high protein low carb diet doesn’t get you ripped then you should read my article about How Carb Cycling Increases Fat Burning And Preserves Muscle Mass. In this article, I explain how cycling carbohydrates influences key fat burning hormones and I provide a simple 3 day cycling program that you can rotate throughout the week to help manipulate your body into a fat burning environment.
